Overview

Who we’re looking for:

 

We’re seeking an experienced communicator to fill the community specialist role for two of the newest brands on our consumer marketing team. As these brands have grown, our readers, subscribers, commenters, and followers are increasingly hungry for interaction -- and we’re eager to find someone who can connect them to our brands and add value to the customer experience.


This person will oversee strategy and execution for audience development, engagement, product education, customer service, and social listening. You’ll collaborate with internal marketing, communications, and product teams to develop and improve content and messaging strategy for various channels and platforms, such as social, email, chat, direct messages, on-site comments, ‘contact us’ inquiries, etc.

 

The right candidate will have:

 

  • A degree in Communications, English, PR, or related field of study
  • 2-3 years of professional experience developing and managing an online community for an established brand/organization
  • A natural interest in—and history of—contributing to popular online communities, such as Reddit, Facebook Groups, YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter, among others.
  • Experience developing communication strategies for all customer touch points
  • Empathy for user frustrations/pain points and a passion for finding helpful solutions

Nice to haves: 

  • Existing subject matter expertise around sports, TV shows, movies, streaming media, streaming devices, telecommunication services, home security services, IoT trends or consumer electronics
  • Experience appearing on camera (live) as a way to interact with online communities

Responsibilities: 

  • Community and customer experience management
  • Monitor, listen, respond to audience in a social way
  • Internally communicate feedback for improving business practices as needed
  • Engage with current customers and potential customers anywhere they congregate online
  • Establish and maintain positive brand sentiment and reputation
  • Potentially find, train, and manage moderators for comments and forums
  • Communications strategy and execution
  • Suggest and aid the creation of relevant, original, high-quality content aimed at addressing customer pain points and common concerns
  • Promote content through social media channels
  • Manage visual and written communication for consistency, clarity, and transparency with audience
  • Create and fulfill on KPIs based on business goals
  • Engagement (comments, likes, shares)
  • Page views
  • Lead generation 
  • Community growth (followers, subscribers)
  • Research and analytics
  • Understand demographics
  • Improve customer-centric, educational content
  • Optimize posting strategy
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
  • Thought leadership
  • Brand voice development
  • Using social listening identify current and trending issues and strategically share and address them authoritatively
  • Develop and expand community and influencer outreach efforts (Twitter chats, social media events, etc.)
